  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Billiton Charter, the BHP Billiton Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Demonstrate safety leadership by modelling safety behaviour and participating in site safety practices and initiatives
  • Maintain uniformity between teams with regard to planning and scheduling tasks and improvement initiatives
  • Develop daily blends which meet grade & sequence requirement while recognising and addressing problematic ore areas
  • Track daily and weekly plans conformance and investigate reasons for deviations
  • Report on rail schedule daily, weekly and monthly basis - report non conformance
  • Report on quality non conformance, daily weekly and monthly - investigate and report reason for non conformance
  • Investigate non - conformance to blend, complete non - conformance form with detail of variance and report actions to prevent recurrence
  • Communicate site grade targets and grade objectives to the site production team
  • Identify value add opportunities in terms of haul profiles, pit and drill & blast accesses, waste dumps and stockpiles, stripping requirements
  • Report any significant grade deviation to the Superintendent Mining Standards
LocationYou will be based at our new 'Jimblebar' mine site on a 8 days on 6 days off fly-in fly-out roster. Jimblebar is the first ever Greenfield mine to be both developed and operated by BHP Iron Ore and is located 40kms North East of Newman, Western Australia. The facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, netted cricket pitch, basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV and DVD player. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television with Foxtel channels, refrigerator and air-conditioning. About You You will have:
  • A recognized Tertiary Degree in Mining Engineering or Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 3 yrs experience in Open Cut Mining environment
  • Experience in remote area work environment
  • Exposure to mine planning (preferable)
  • Exposure to Grade control (preferable)
  • Sound computer skills with Microsoft office (Excel, Power point, Word, etc.) and mining software (Vulcan experience preferred)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Focus in detail and mathematical aptitude
  • Flexible to change and embraces improvement
  • WA class C driver license.
