  • Extensive experience and expertise in relevant technologies and domains with significant experience at a senior level
  • Extensive experience in leading, managing and motivating engineering teams
  • Extensive experience in engineering management, risk mitigation and business improvement methodologies.
  • Extensive experience in defined processes using a wide variety of methods and techniques/tools
  • Experience in the conduct of a range of independent technical reviews
  • Demonstrated achievement of engineering outcomes in a complex working environment
  • Experience in defining and ensuring governance of processes
  • Strong understanding of existing and emerging engineering industry capabilities
  • Intermediate to advanced skills and experience in the use of MS Office and other relevant software packages and applications
  • Significant experience working in a engineering project environment within a multi-national organisation
  • Some bid proposal development experience
  • Some project management experience
  • Experience with Lean/Process Improvement Methods
Prerequisite qualification:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline from an accredited institution and/or extensive relevant professional experience
  • Relevant Management/ Leadership training and/or qualifications
  • Relevant certifications or Professional membership

Your responsibilities will include: Develop and manage the Engineering Project Management capability providing effective leadership and management to ensure business obligations and customer requirements are able to be met both now and in the future through the application of robust policies, processes and procedures. Functions as an advisor to a unit regarding tasks, projects, and operations. Becomes actively involved in daily operations only when required to meet critical schedules or resolve complex problems. Assignments are received in task and objective oriented terms. Provides direction to subordinates based on general policies and management guidance. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Project(s) are typically of medium size, risk and complexity and may be for major component or; small system, or; production or logistics program for several components or medium systems. Some of the key activities you will undertake are:
  • Provide an extensive contribution to the creation of an effective workplace culture which recognises and values both individual and team contributions to organisational effectiveness
  • Provide an appropriate level of support on business development opportunities for the Engineering Project Management capability
  • Lead and mentor individuals to achieve their potential, effectively maximising their contribution to the achievement of goals
  • Proactively undertake all people management practices, including recruitment; induction and probationary reviews of new employees
  • Actively support business growth opportunities to ensure adequate planning and estimating are performed and that relevant documentation is produced for the Engineering Project Management aspects.

  • Continuously drive process improvement and excellence, including the proactive resolution of CARs and OFIs.
  • Provide leadership to pro-actively identify and resolve technical issues across the business and programs.
  • Establish and maintain cascaded communication requirements across the business.
  • Actively manage the Engineering function within a project to deliver immediate and long-term technical goals
  • Provide technical direction to the project team(s) and ensure technical milestones, engineering products and services are of the highest quality, satisfying cost, schedule, regulatory compliance and technical requirements
  • Lead and support technical reviews within the project or broader business
  • Continuously drive capability improvement and excellence within the project engineering community
  • Define strategies to achieve project engineering goals and establish engineering plans consistent with the defined Engineering Management procedures
  • Deliver project engineering plans and estimates for the project(s)
  • Where applicable, define technology or product roadmaps to assist the business in planning future capability needs and establish project specific process assets
  • Define project resource requirements and work with the engineering functional management team and/or Senior EPM to ensure project or program resource requirements are satisfied
  • Manage work allocation for project assigned personnel
  • Scope project engineering activities and ensure engineering estimates are robust and defensible
  • Establish an appropriate mechanism for monitoring project performance including the establishment of a technical metrics and Technical Performance Measures (TPM) regime
  • Monitor project performance through the combination of technical measures and the application of
  • EVM techniques as a Cost Account Manager for the engineering scope of work
