This well regarded remote island Council provides essential services to a remote community in regional Far North Queensland. Due to an increase in workload they are currently seeking an experienced and qualified painter to join their busy team. We need experience trades on the ground!! Apply now!!!

Your new role

Working within the Council housing services team you will be responsible for undertaking the prepping and full completion of high quality paint work across both commercial and domestic projects on the Island. This is a 12-week, live on Island contract. You will work Monday - Friday, with weekend work available at the approval of your supervisor. You will be provided with housing for the duration of your stay however you will be required to provide your own food. You will be staying in a single person dwelling with access to a shared kitchen.
The Council require all tradesman to bring their vehicles to the Island. The Council will provide a kilometre reimbursement paid for travel between Cairns and Karumba. Kilometres are also reimbursed for the duration of your contract paid weekly. Once in Karumba, your vehicle will be put on the barge and flights will be provided from Karumba to Mornington Island. The barge will safely deliver your vehicle within 2-3 days.
What you'll need to succeed
You will need to be a trade qualified painter with a QLD construction white card and experience in domestic and commercial painting. You must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience within painting and be available for an immediate start. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a remote Indigenous community. This community is a dry community with alcohol restrictions and this must be respected. The successful candidate will have an extremely high standard of work quality and be driven to get the job done!
