WorkPac Professional are currently seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer for a full time, permanent opportunity with our client.
Offered as FIFO from Perth on a 2:1 roster this position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced applicant with strong gold mining experience.
The successful applicant will work alongside a team of Geotechnical Engineers and report to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer. This role supports Mine Planning and Operations by providing geotechnical advice and ensures that geotechnical risks are understood, monitored and managed.
Accountabilities will include:
Significant focus on stable stope designs and the identification of appropriate controls
Assessment of excavation, rockmass and support performance
Geotechnical monitoring including design, installation & analysis of data
Geotechnical assessment and input into the mine design, drill and blast, ground support, and paste processes
Audits / Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QACQ) of ground support applications & standards
Data collection & stability investigations
Design development rehabilitation
Numerical modelling of designs
Skills and Experiences:
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Tertiary qualification in Geotechnical, Engineering Geology, Civil, or Mining Engineering and/or Post Graduate Geotechnical / Rock Mechanics
Experience in gold mining would be a benefit
Problem solving skills which employ a risk-based approach
Great communication skills and the desire to be a team player
