Application Engineer

We are currently seeking a passionate, driven and motivated individual to join our Water Business unit Sales Order Management team based at our Carrum Downs office.
The successful applicant will be responsible and able to demonstrate the following:
- Preparation of technically sound and commercially competitive proposals whilst following the agreed processes and using the tendering tools provided
- Ensure all sales processes and tools are being used properly and accurately
- Get pricing approval as per the DOA
- Lead technical discussions and clarifications for prepared quotations and tenders
- Conduct application and product training for customers, consultants, re-sellers and end users as required
- Maintain and continuously improve technical expertise in our products, and industry expertise
- Negotiating tender and contract terms with key accounts, to meet both client and company needs
- Planning, support and follow-up of sales activities in line with the sales strategy and defined processes
- Establishing new, and maintaining existing, long-term relationships with customers.
- Ensure won orders and projects are launched in a timely and professional manner.
- Order entry into the relative ERP system(s) for timely and accurate order execution
- Manage certain projects through to completion with regular customer updates, submission of documents as per the VDRL, generation of invoices as per the project milestone etc. up until project close-out
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers in order to reduce commercial risk and to maximize future business opportunities
- Provide accurate and timely reports on business and marketing activities on a monthly basis
- 2 years'+ experience in sales / customer service role
- 2 years'+ Mechanical Engineering experience
- Possess and able to demonstrate high attention to detail in all areas of work
- An understanding of engineering principles relating to rotating equipment would be an advantage
- Exceptional and strong communication skills, both oral and written
- A strong team player, customer orientated with effective negotiation skills
- Possess the ability to adapt to challenging situations and manage workloads effectively.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- A motivated self-starter with a high focus and understanding of effective and professional customer service
- Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics and SAP is an advantage
