Based out of their state-of-the-art Brisbane office, you will work with a group of highly regarded industry practitioners who value technical expertise and are driven by applying practical on-the-ground problem solving and engineering solutions for their clients. They are passionate about working collaboratively with each other and their key clients to deliver successful outcomes.

The Opportunity

Due to recent impressive project and panel wins along the east coast this client is seeing sustainable and rapid growth across the national water resources business. As such, they require a Water Resources professional to join their existing team in Queensland. Here you will enjoy a variety of project work by supporting a diverse range of clients across several sectors, including, infrastructure, urban and regional councils, mining, and urban development.

As a Water Resources Engineer your core responsibilities will include:

  • Carry out the assessment of water related impacts - hydrologic, flooding and water quality associated with infrastructure, mining, and development projects
  • Undertake conceptual and detailed engineering design and investigations of civil and stormwater infrastructure, including, earthworks, drainage, basins dams, etc.
  • Execute the preparation and review of engineering reports, drawings, specifications, bill of quantities and cost estimates
  • Undertake project management and client management duties for projects and complete report writing and presentation needs as projects require
  • Have an ability to interpret and communicate complex technical information to clients in a simplified manner
  • Develop relationships with potential clients and improve and maintain existing client relationships
  • Support and/or lead business development activities, including client liaison and proposal preparation

Required Skills & Experience

  • A degree in civil engineering or relevant sciences
  • A minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience (previous consultancy experience is highly desirable)
  • Good technical knowledge while delivering pragmatic and practical outcomes
  • Proven project delivery capability across stormwater and flooding
  • High level of proficiency using industry-standard hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software packages including TUFLOW and WBNM/RORB/RAFTS (MUSIC would be advantageous but not necessary)
  • Experience using ArcGIS/MapInfo/QGIS (12D and CAD software would be advantageous but not necessary)
  • Demonstrated report writing and verbal communication skills with the self-confidence to express technical arguments
  • Good client communication skills with an ability to talk about technical aspects to a non-technical audience
  • High level industry awareness and engagement
  • Have an interest in (or be working towards) obtaining CPEng and/or RPEQ
  • A strong desire to expand on their existing skills and advance their career
