Job Description

We are growing our development team and we are looking for a mining engineer with a passion for innovation and a desire to develop and bring new technologies to the mining sector. This position will see an experienced engineer bringing their mining expertise to bear to shape product development across a diverse range of novel mining projects and data products, utilising the autonomous collection of data used to produce high density pointclouds.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the mining expert for Emesent and provide guidance for management, technical and sales teams on product features and use cases.
  • Assist with shaping and refining Emesent’s product roadmap.
  • Actively engage with mining customers to better understand their needs and workflows.
  • Explore/Investigate and document the different uses cases of Emesent products in the mining sector including benefits to the mines, cost savings, feasibility studies, etc.
  • Work closely with the R&D and software teams to define product requirements and to implement and automate the analysis of geospatial and time series data sets.
  • Develop efficient workflows and methods for turning the 3D data collected by Emesent’s hardware into actionable insights.
  • Participate along with the sales team members in phone calls and demonstrations with mining customers.
  • Help evangelise Emesent technology and educate mining customers, to facilitate the adoption of drones and LiDAR mapping into their organisation.
  • Promote the use cases for Emesent products within the mining community and present them in relevant conferences and events.
  • Prepare proposals to mining customers including for demonstrations, trials, special projects, etc.
  • Work with 3rd party mining software vendors to ensure data from Emesent's products (such as Hovermap) integrates with their software tools, and educate potential customers on the end-to-end workflows involving Emesent and 3rd party tools.
Essential
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering, preferably majoring in Mining.
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a mining engineer or consultant in underground (preferable) or open pit.
  • Operational experience in mining engineering site based roles.
  • Experience using 3D data (e.g., scan data) and mining software for surveying, production, geotechnical, planning or other applications.
  • Ability to travel to mine sites within Australia and overseas.
  • A passion for innovative technologies and a desire to grow and learn.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Desirable
  • Surveying, geology, mine operations or mine planning experience will be highly beneficial.
  • Expertise in processing and analysing data from mobile mapping systems or CMS.
  • Experience with mining data management and mining software (e.g., Deswik, Point Studio, Vulcan, Surpac, etc.).
  • Experience in providing consultative services for software or hardware companies (building products for mining) will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in managing customer relationships.
