Our client is a progressive global operator currently looking to engage with a highly driven and experienced Process Engineer with a particular focus around technology and innovation. This role will be working on one of the first plant operations of it's kind in Australia located in the south west region of WA. This is a cooperative role advising the construction and commissioning teams as a technical expert in chemical process systems. There is also huge opportunities for international travel and development on one of several similar operations in their global portfolio pipeline.

Role responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to company safety standards
  • Assist in developing and conveying the unique safety culture of the plant, with the team, to contractors and vendors with the goal of zero harm
  • Ensure that corporate technical policies and standards, relevant directives and lessons learned are being considered at site.
  • Identify the process hazards to the company process team for subsequent corrections of hazards
  • Work collaboratively with both the company Process Technology team and the Operation Team.
  • Develop and support the implementation of technology improvements within Refinery (synergies), by conducting test work, plant trials, organising vendor's discussions, and developing process engineering design.
  • Develop and complete process data sheets for vendor interaction and confirm vendor designs
  • Identify and propose process alternatives to optimize plant commissioning, operation and debottlenecking.
  • Organise laboratory and/or plant trials aiming at process improvements or debottlenecking.
  • Realise process calculation to support improvement or sizing of equipment.
  • Document that the equipment and processes perform to the design and/or vendor performance guarantees
  • Participate in HAZOP's and where necessary consult and assist in resolution of assigned HAZOP corrective actions.
  • Where specific experience indicates, participate in value engineering, constructability, risk reviews and support maintenance of the risks and opportunities register.

What's required:

  • A Tertiary Degree in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy
  • Previous chemical plant experience prefered
  • Strong understanding of refinery operations
  • Experience within multiple commodities
  • Previous commissioning experience desirable
  • Lithium experience highly regarded
