About the Role:

A technical and rewarding role with plenty of value adding opportunities and for improvements to current procedures and practices to achieve high quality standards and products.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Continuously improving the chemical process of the compounding and manufacturing of over 500 fragrance varieties and soaps on a large scale according to client’s requirements.
  • Analysing and evaluating the quality control of raw materials and finished products to meet standard specifications
  • Weighing and recording raw materials to specification
  • Identifying and controlling possible bottleneck situations in production process while maintaining operation efficiency.
  • Minimising wastage of materials and resources as they relate to production.
  • Product Testing – Fragrances, wax, wicks, candles
    • Testing wax from suppliers and analysing various blends in a laboratory
    • Testing new and existing fragrances and their performance in candles based on their chemical composition
    • Testing candles produced by customers using different raw materials, manufacturing in a variety of environments that impact the candle’s burning performance
  • Providing chemical engineering support to the Product Development and Supply Chain teams
  • Providing and convert key feedback (Internal and external product feedback & analysis) into product development initiatives in relation to product technicalities.
  • Project Management - Initiate system and process improvements including standardization and technology projects that will allow the business to scale-up their manufacturing capacity in global markets

About you: 

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
  • Qualification in Project Management
  • Experience as a compounder/ technologist in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrates an understanding of processes and formulations within a chemical manufacturing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on recording accurate data and results.
  • Product testing skils to ensure high quality lab blends
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Superb computer and software skills
  • Demonstrated international exposure to understand global standards and consumer needs
