Bay Building Group is a market leader when it comes to insurance building in Australia, operating offices throughout VIC, NSW, ACT, QLD, SA, WA & TAS. For more than 30 years we have specialised in repairs to domestic and commercial properties damaged through insurable events such as fire, storm, flood, impact and malicious damage.

About the Role:

The Estimator is responsible for the estimating, submission and overall management of a portfolio of cladding tender submissions related to Cladding Safety Victoria’s Cladding Rectification Program, of which our company is a panel builder for. The Estimator is to attend site for all new tendering opportunities and ensure that they gain a high level of understanding of the site requirements and tender documents, in order to accurately prepare and submit competitive winning tenders, that are in line with individual projects requirements and commercially deliverable, as per the companies requirements

As each of these sites will be full live environments at the time of tender award and construction delivery, all sites are required to have the highest WHS procedures and measures in place at all times, along with solid deliverable projects schedules to be developed as part of the tender preparation and submission. The Estimators objective is to complete tenders preparation and submissions in a timely & cost effective manner, whilst always focusing on quality/accuracy of work, WHS compliance highly competitive budgets and customer service.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare tender and or quotation packages and undertake procurement evaluations
  • Negotiating with contractors for best price
  • Estimating with budgeting and cost planning
  • Preparing and submitting tender submissions
  • Measuring and preparation of BOQ's when required
  • Analyse tender with subcontractors, ensuring all pricing matches the tender documentation
  • Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Experience with completing and submitting tender submissions of similar projects
  • Make procurement recommendations to PM's
  • Assisting PM's with forecast costing

Other Skills & Attributes

  • Proven commercial estimating experience – minimum 5 years
  • Sound knowledge of Melbourne construction market and subcontractors
  • Communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite software
  • Ability to work autonomously and within team environment
  • Ability to work within set time frames
  • Possess a willingness to work to drive growth through successful tendered projects
  • Completing and submitting highly detailed tender submissions
