About the role

We are looking for a Network and Communications Engineer to support and maintain the existing IT, OT and Radio communications networks for Bell Bay operations while also working closely with Global IS&T team.

This role is a great to work in heavy industry supporting operation networking and managing system configuration, carrying out system installations, defining, documenting and enforcing system standards as well as providing network support in a 24x7 environment.

Reporting to the Superintendent IS&T Bell Bay, and working in a collaborative team within the IS&T Pacific Operations Aluminium team you will:

  • Provide technical support and management of Cisco and DELL WAN, LAN, WLAN
  • Provide technical support and management of radio communications network
  • Design and implement new network solutions ensuring best practice security and practices are to a high standard
  • Maximise network performance by performing problem management, upgrades and collaborating with enterprise network engineers & architects on network optimisation and technologies
  • Maintain network devices to protect site from vulnerabilities and intrusions

About you

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • A Cisco certification
  • Working towards or being prepared to attain Cisco Certified Design Associate certification
  • Proven working experience with Cisco and DELL networking devices, in particular in routing, switching and firewalls
  • Experience with the use of network monitoring tools such as “the Dude”, SolarWinds, Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and Cisco WCS
  • Knowledge in configuring and managing CCTV network
  • Knowledge in configuring and managing radio communications networks
  • Knowledge in configuring and managing WiFi communications networks
  • Experience with routing protocols in large organisational networks

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • A tertiary certificate/degree in networking, computer engineering, electrical engineering or related course
  • Cisco Certification that displays expertise for network design, implementation, operations and troubleshooting
  • Experience within large enterprise data communications networks
