The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) provides secondary and tertiary care to children and young people across the northern and western suburbs; specialist paediatric healthcare to the children of Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and parts of South Australia; and is the designated state-wide provider of services including paediatric trauma, rehabilitation and forensic medicine. As a quaternary centre for complex cardiac surgery and organ transplantation, the RCH cares for the sickest children from around Australia.

The Role
RCH has an excellent opportunity for a Junior Biomedical Engineer to join the Biomedical Engineering team and help to maintain comprehensive service delivery to the hospital within a supportive team environment.
Biomedical Engineering provides a comprehensive range of technical and administrative services relating to the ongoing support of medical, laboratory and audio-visual equipment. Biomedical Engineering services include equipment repairs, routine maintenance, safety and performance testing, acceptance testing, hazard alert and recall management, electrical area testing, equipment related incident investigation, technology replacement planning, education and training, acquisition and replacement advice, advice and guidance relating to infrastructure and design. Service and support of complex medical systems.
This Rare Opportunity Requires a Person With
- Formal qualifications in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent;
- Eligible for membership to Engineers Australia or ACPSEM;
- A knowledge of the relevant Australian and International Standards & their application to medical equipment;
- Excellent technical skills and a working knowledge of electronics;
- Ability to prioritise and work within established guidelines, makes independent studies, analysis, interpretation and conclusions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- the delivery of a comprehensive biomedical engineering service by performing clinical troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance;
- in pre-purchase evaluations of equipment, acceptance testing, installation and decommissioning of medical equipment;
- in development of Testing and Commissioning Methodology and Commissioning Reports for new equipment;
