Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Mining / Civil Cost Estimator to join our Cost Management team in Sydney. Our clients are from both the public and private sector, delivering a wide range of infrastructure projects. We have a growing mining, civil and infrastructure cost estimating capability that both supports AECOM's internal groups and also provides Clients with the answer to their question "How much will my project cost?

Our Cost Management business seeks to provide proactive cost estimating services. You will want to develop your career by working on interesting and challenging projects with us, in an inclusive team environment.

Based in our George Street office, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Primary responsibility for provision of cost estimates for mining and/or civil engineering projects
  • Establish and maintain both internal and external client relationships
  • Preparation of quantities from a range of drawings with varying levels of detail
  • Cost advice at all stages of the design process and during projects
  • Post-Contract cost management services where required
  • Preparation and evaluation of Risk Registers
  • Deliver excellent service to the client in all aspects of a project life cycle

Minimum Requirements

  • Extensive experience as a civil and/or mining cost estimator / quantity surveyor / cost manager in Australia, preferably NSW
  • Specific experience in working with major mining houses such as BHP, Rio Tinto, South 32, etc and possess a level of comfort with their processes, procedures and output requirements
  • Good knowledge of mining and civil engineering construction techniques including mine infrastructure, process plants and materials handling
  • Experience in HV and LV power costs desirable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experienced in the preparation of estimates from first principles as well as early strategic level estimates
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and ability to manage/mentor staff
  • Knowledge and experience of Cost Estimating and Quantity Surveying software such as: Cost X, Expert Estimation, @risk, P6 etc.
