Division Specific Information and Geographic Scope
Within our APAC Materials & Minerals Business Unit we are looking for an experienced and motivated Field Service Engineer for our product line Process Analysers. The position is both available in Adelaide office based and in Queensland remotely. The candidate will collaborate with the APAC Service Leader and will become part of the Chemical Analysis Division (CAD). The work area will be in Australia and the APAC region.

How will you make an impact?
You will join a dedicated Service Team that supports Customers that are using Thermo Fisher Scientific analysers based on the Prompt Gamma Neutron Activation Analysis (PGNAA) technology. These Customers are producing the high-quality fundamental building products of our world and are expecting a highly specialised and fast resolving service. Frequent travel and able to deal with customer's site visits schedule are required for this position.
Representing our Company in a positive professional manner taking care of our external - as internal Customers. Leading your tasks and being committed to deliver beyond the required end result and delighting your Customer. Work is completed in time with high quality.
You are able to prioritise your tasks under demanding conditions and schedules showing a proactive approach and confidence in your actions. Never forgetting that safety is our first priority.
Electronic knowledge and trouble shooting skills on the equipment have been maintained to the latest standards and you are also familiarised with the mechanical construction and software application that is used for. Any improvements that you identify will be directly discussed with the equipment End Users and followed up until successful completion.
Typical Service activities related to the PGNAA technology equipment include:

  • Carry out quality technical and professional on-site Installation and Commissioning (I&C) of PGNAA Thermo Scientific equipment which includes training the customer in the accurate and safe operation of the equipment.
  • Visit Customer sites for regular Maintenance Services such as Preventative, Repairs and Emergency Breakdowns.
  • Provide Radiation Services together with Validation and Audit Services.
  • Complete site visit reports within time frames as laid down in the relevant work instructions, and or Customer requirements. Ensure all agreed action points are followed up.
  • Deliver technical support for existing clients via telephone, email and remote computer access for troubleshooting, assessment and assistance, including 24/7 hot line coverage.
  • Support engineering changes for existing products and/or process improvement.
  • Enhance, update and help with the internal procedures documentation.
  • Your work directly impacts and adds value to the overall Service Targets with respect to; Customer happiness and satisfaction, Bookings and Revenues and Service Profit and Overhead Cost while following all internal rules.
How will you get here?
Education
  • Associate Diploma or Degree in an Engineering field such as Electronics.
Experience
  • Confirmed experience in PGNAA Field Service and Customer Service (minimum 5 years).
  • Experience with on-line analysers and/or industrial processing instrumentation.
  • Field work or knowledge of the coal and cement sector (or related) processing industries.
  • Outstanding troubleshooting skills and passionate about electro-mechanical, software and application issues.
  • Read and understand manufacturing assembly drawings, electrical & pneumatic schematics.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral skills in English.
  • Developed analysis and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and intuitively.
Special Conditions:
  • Current driver’s license and ability to drive a manual vehicle.
  • This position requires additional drug testing to follow customers’ site access requirements.
  • Flexibility to travel, sometimes with limited notice.
  • Weekend & Public Holiday work is sometimes required as well as Out of Hours support to Customers
