  • Location: Goulburn Correctional Centre, Goulburn Senior Overseer, $105K + Salary Package ($89,855), plus superannuation and annual leave loading Summary:Corrective Services NSW employs trade Overseers, Senior Overseers and Managers in Corrective Services Industries (CSI) providing inmates in correctional centres with vocational training in service and commercial industries to improve their employment opportunities when they are released from custody. Employment is a proven factor in reducing the risk of re-offending. About the Department: The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) was formed in 2019 with the merger of two former departments Family and Community Services (FACS) and Justice. By combining FACS and Justice, the two former agencies are now able to work together as DCJ to support everyone’s right to access justice, to help families, and to promote early intervention and inclusion, in order to provide benefits for the whole community. Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) delivers professional correctional services and programs to reduce the risk of re-offending and enhance public safety. It serves a key function of the NSW Communities and Justice Sector by providing effective, safe and humane management of offenders both in custody and in the community CSNSW also works in partnership with other government and community agencies to ensure that offenders and their families are supported. About the Role:We are looking for a Senior Trade Overseer to join the team at Goulburn Correctional Centre. As a Senior Trade Overseer you will be responsible for providing leadership and mentoring to Overseers as well as supervise and develop inmates through managing, coaching, instructing and encouraging them to develop and improve on their work skills. In this role you will assist and support the inmates to enhance their post-release employment prospects and contribute productively to Business Unit objectives. This role will see you plan, schedule and oversee the activities of the team to ensure productivity efficiency and other commercial objectives are achieved whilst quality and safety requirements and customer needs are continuously met. You will specifically be supervising: Overseers Inmates Correctional Officers Visitor or Contractors to the workplace Essential Requirements: Current Certificate III in Correctional Practice or capacity to complete Certificate III in Correctional Practice in accordance with specified CSNSW timeframes. Current driver licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle in the course of performing the role. Willing to participate in an on-call cyclic roster to respond to critical after hours facility breakdowns or failures, and work across varying trades in a flexible approach. Plumber – Must possess Trade qualification in Plumbing and hold current NSW Fair Trading Plumbing Contractor Licence or Qualified Supervisor Certificate Skills and Experience: Lead and direct the activities of work teams and appraise the performance of supervised staff and provide counsel and feedback to ensure organisational and personal development objectives are achieved. Participate in planning and reviewing quality and continuous improvement processes. Supervise, coach, train, instruct and work with inmates to develop their work skills whilst creating and replicating a real workplace environment. Provide and promote detailed input to case management through the Work Readiness Program. Ensure Duty of Care and compliance with relevant CSNSW and CSI policies, practices, procedures and probity requirements. Manage budget and resources efficiently and effectively to achieve planned outcomes. Create and maintain a safe working environment for staff, contractors, inmates and visitors to comply with Work Health & Safety legislation. here for the Role Description Benefits:
