An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer in the design and delivery of complex water/wastewater infrastructure projects. Using the latest technology associated with digital engineering we are at the forefront of high technology infrastructure planning, design and asset management. We are looking for energetic, pro-active and practical engineers who are passionate about providing holistic engineering solutions which provide value throughout the asset lifecycle.

Reporting to the Design Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio of complex brownfield water infrastructure projects from early client engagement, scope development, tendering support, detailed design and provide design management/support throughout the execution phase.

Responsibilities Will Include

Concept design to support the tender/bid team in the acquisition of new projects with clients in both municipal water utilities and industrial water/wastewater treatment providersProject definition setting exercises whereby an understanding of working in a multi-disciplinary team is key to ensuring the cut-over and constructability of the new plant can be undertaken in a safe and risk mitigated approach.Detailed condition assessment and reporting of existing assets including structural steel (gantries, piping support, elevated walkways) and reinforced concrete (wet wells, water retaining structures, etc) structures in a variety of environments including confined spaces, working from heights and working over water.Prepare wind, seismic, foundation, steel and water retaining concrete structural calculations and sign/seal those if requiredProduce civil and structural design documentation, including sketches, detailed markups, specifications, reports and calculations Assist in the project development phase; review pertinent site information, calculations and cost estimation, Attend, minute and contribute to workshops for options analysis, safety in design, constructability as well as ongoing operation and maintenance. Update Quality Assurance documentation for each project you work on.Track your time and budget on the projects, Manage and mitigate risk associated with the job.Preparation of quality and safety documentation,Liaison and management of sub-contractors and suppliers.

As the ideal candidate for this position, you will be a technical/design-oriented Civil/Structural Engineer with demonstrable experience in complex water infrastructure projects.

Minimum Bachelors degree in civil or structural engineeringChartership or short-term eligibility for chartership (CPEng) is criticalHigh-level competence in the use of associated design software – Strand7, Microstran, SpaceGassHigh level written (reporting, tenders), visual (sketches and markups) and oral (client engagement, site support) communication skillsPractical and logical approach on-site with an understanding of construction techniques and safe work methodologies.
