Principal Platform Engineer

Working for this large state government department, you will be responsible for leading a small team of developers in undertaking stack development, DevSecOps and Cloud automation to deliver new digital platforms.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely withproduct managers, stakeholders and broader team members to achieve ongoing productive partnerships, and to ensure the customers needs are well understood, widely shared, and actionable
  • Maintaining, developing and extending a newly developed digital platforms, supporting integrations with multiple services and backend systems and teams.
  • Managing the team to ensure a collaborative culture that fosters product-centric mindset, constantly iterating and improving to deliver quality digital products and services, and mentoring and training junior developers.
  • Ensuring that all operations, process and practices operate within all relevant legislative and government standards.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Be a senior AWS engineer (AWS certification would be highly regarded)
  • Possess strong DevOps engineering experience
  • Have influential and collaborative communication skills, adaptable to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Possess strong coding experience in Java, Typescript, Bash or Python
  • Have Significant exposure across automation eg. Ansible, Cloudformation, CDK, terraform
  • Have a background and experience running highly available and secure web applications on Linux servers
  • Possess strong experience in security engineering practices, vulnerability remediation concepts and approaches supporting SAST, DAST + Code Quality tooling
  • Have experience with continuous integration/delivery and source code management tools including Gitlab, GitHub, Bamboo, Jenkins, Go.cd, Teamcity
  • Have containerisation experience (Kubernetes or Docker)
  • Have operational experience with toolsets such as Prisma, Twistlock, NewRelic, Splunk, CloudWatch, DataDog, Sysdig, Aquasec, Slack, Teams etc.
