Role Description

The role will provide overall expert technical advice and guidance regarding customer technical requirements and liaise closely with engineering resources to ensure effective deployment of core engineering policy & practices thereby ensuring deliverables satisfy the technical solution.

The role is also responsible and accountable for all the processes associated with the engineering function across the APAC region as per EMS for the full life cycle of projects. Responsible for the maintenance, development and implementation of the EMS ensuring alignment and integration with standards (ISO, CMMI, etc.).

Roles & Responsibilities 

• Engineering Management System (EMS) Owner: Responsible for definition, application and revision of the Engineering Management System (EMS) as applicable to the full life cycle of simulation projects. Ensures that the EMS elements associated with Configuration Management and Design Control align with the QMS. Support customer communication on the EMS.

• Responsible for the identification, procurement, training, introduction to service and on-going upkeep of all required tools for effective application of the EMS whilst keeping aligned with the Global Tool Selection and management activities (e.g. Application Lifecycle Management tools). 

• Responsible for supporting audits (Internal, ISO, CMMI, Other) of the EMS with a goal of all Audit findings to be cleared by the agreed date.

• Technical Authority: Provide overall expert technical advice and guidance regarding customer technical requirements

- Liaise closely with engineering resources to ensure the effective deployment of core engineering policy and practise

- Ensure that the deliverables satisfy the overall technical solution

- Act as a Technical Authority for approval of engineering estimates and engineering outputs

- Design process is effective

- Optimum risk treatment for each technical risk to avoid or minimise risk impact

- Collaborate with Global Engineering counterparts in support of Product and Configuration Management

-Support for the Integrated Solution Lead (ISL) role: Mentor the ISL role and validate technical details of proposed solutions.

• Responsible for tailoring and scaling the EMS based on best practise to suit contract and / or customer specific requirements in instances where absolutely necessary. (e.g compliance requirements)

• Responsible to ensure CAE’s plans and procedures for engineering and configuration management are compliant with the contractual requirements under the applicable contracts, all design activities are carried out as needed by the stipulated processes & design decisions are taken and documented

Qualifications and Experience/Requirements 

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following: 

• Minimum 8 years in engineering function in Defence/Aerospace

• Experience/familiarity with various relevant technologies, engineering practices, processes. 

• Ability to understand customer process requirements and align the team to ensure the specific customer requirements are met.

Note: as the Australian Department of Defence is a major client, you must be eligible for SECRET (NV1) level Defence security clearance, and preferably already hold a current SECRET (NV1) clearance.
