About the role:

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring locomotives, railcars, wagons, plant and infrastructure are repaired and maintained to the required standard of safety and reliability to ensure the efficient running of freight services. 

  • Repair and maintain locomotives, railcars, wagons, plant and infrastructure, including electrical or mechanical work.
  • Work from prints or plans and develop design drawings as required.
  • Undertake train examination and operate fixed and mobile plant.
  • Provide guidance and "on job" instruction to other staff (including apprentices).
  • Use fixed, portable and hand machines, utilising hand tools and precision instruments.
  • Undertake material, tooling, component identification, selection, application and installation.
  • Undertake electrical or mechanical trade skills as required.
  • Derailment recovery
  • Roster work and support to other depots in WA will be required from time to time.

About you: 

  • Electrical trade qualification (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated experience repairing and maintaining locomotives and rollingstock would be highly regarded.
  • Strong fault finding and troubleshooting experience, with strong ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings.
  • Experience in the resources/infrastructure/transport related developments.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to role model appropriate leadership behaviours (mandatory).
