New Business Sales Engineer

ifm electronic is a global market leader in automation equipment and solution.

ifm efector pty ltd is Australian subsidiary of ifm electronic gmbh. Due to expansion, we have an exciting role available for a New Business Sales Engineer based in our Melbourne Head Office. This is an integral sales role reporting to the Sales Manager. The role is responsible for maximising sales through new business development, account management and providing technical and engineering solutions to ifm customers, and working closely with external sales team.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Identify the needs of prospecting accounts, and deliver relevant solutions to meet their needs
  • Communicate with prospecting accounts and existing buying accounts over the phone, virtual meeting, via email, and face-to-face visits, to proactively promote ifm products and solution
  • Responsible for an account pool to grow buying accounts and sales
  • Interstate travel may be required from time to time for trade shows and customer site visits
  • Analyse customer information and update data as required
  • Commitment to build stronger customer relationship
  • Commitment to continually improving understanding of product and technical solution

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential
  • A formal qualification in the electrical engineering, electronics engineering, mechanical engineering or mechatronics engineering
  • A sound understanding of industrial controls with ability to discuss machine processes and various types of I/O devices
  • A structured and systematic approach, a strong ability to prioritise and work effectively to achieve both individual and company-wide objectives
  • Team player by also able to work independently
  • All applicants must be either a permanent resident of Australia or a citizen, with a current driver’s license
