About the Project

The Monash Freeway is in Melbourne’s fast growing south east and outer south-east region and the $761M design and construct project will expand the Monash from eight to 10 lanes slashing nearly ten minutes off the morning peak hour commute and better connect the Monash to Eastlink.

Works include the addition of 36 kilometres of new lanes to the Monash Freeway, upgrading the Beaconsfield interchange with new freeway ramps, the extension and widening of O’Shea Road and the roll out of the Freeway Lane Management System to better manage traffic flows.

Construction has commenced and is due to be completed in 2022.

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking applications from energetic Site Engineers to join various teams across the project. We are interested in hearing from highly skilled and qualified civil and structural construction engineers with experience working in teams to deliver challenging road projects.

As Site Engineer, you will be accountable for:

  • Ensuring compliance of the works with technical specifications, applicable legislation, approvals and standards and risk management process
  • Conducting and administering overall job planning and programming including short range and intermediate activities for construction projects for approval by the Project Manager
  • Inputting information and undertaking minor design on site and monitor and recommend changes to design details to increase the ease of construction
  • Exercising professional judgement in resolving engineering issues, i.e. construction methods, design, engineering procedures, etc.
  • Demonstrating financial management skills including demonstrated behaviour in reducing costs and meeting budgets
  • Verifying subcontractors’ claims and variations
  • Undertaking cost controlling and estimating as required by the Site Manager
  • Maintaining drawing register controls for the project
  • Implementing and communicating risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
  • Demonstrating skills in reporting on project performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance
  • Undertaking quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes
  • Demonstrating people management skills by being able to manage work and performance of teams and subcontractors to achieve project outcomes

Requirements for this role are:

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering (post graduate qualifications are an advantage)
  • Proven forecasting and budget management, EOM process and cost tracking skills
  • Demonstrated programming skills with experience in multi-discipline interfaces
  • Safety, environmental and quality focus in project delivery
  • AutoCAD skills are a desirable
