Lead Technical Architect

How will I help?

As a Chief Engineer, you will be apart of the Customer and Core domain in the Application Development Division.

You will be responsible for providing technical expertise and dedicated technical focus required to deliver on Westpac’s next generation technology capabilities including platform development, specialised application development, and systems and processes.

This role will operate predominantly in an Agile environment and such will be required to support the technology capabilities to effectively deliver value to customers.

The successful candidate will be involved in the following responsibilities:

  • Provide team leadership and guidelines to approximately 15 Technical Engineers to promote the development and use of technical standards and specialist knowledge in the organisation

  • Maintain an in-dept knowledge of specific specialisations, providing expert advice regarding the domain, supervising and providing consulting activities and make recommendations and advise team members based on industry bet practices and personal experience

  • Execute specialised tasks and set the domain’s policy for the design, development and testing of technical capabilities aligned to the technical specialisation, ensuring the business requirements are met and industry best practices are adopted

  • Use Agile principles, techniques and processes that fit within the work environment to influence work approach and value creation

  • Demonstrate the ability to coach individuals and groups not within immediate teams for outcomes and corrective actions where obligations have not been met

What do I need?

  • Experience leading a team of at least 5, providing strategic directions, mentoring and leadership

  • Digital experience including ReactJS, Java, API’s etc.
  • Extensive experience with software development and applications design, understanding industry best practices

  • Analysis, problem solving, troubleshooting and consultative skills

  • Financial Services background preferred
