The Opportunity
The Electrical Engineer will support the bioinformatics and programming activities of the Transcriptomics and Bioinformatics Group members and their collaborators. This role consists in developing novel virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) environments with high-fidelity haptic feedback, centered around the -omics datasets generated in the laboratory. The Electrical Engineer will design novel algorithms and new electronical devices that will assist around data integration and visualisation and participate in bioinformatics training activities.
Your Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Setting up novel virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) environments with high-fidelity haptic feedback
- Liaises with IT and other Bioinformatics groups regarding infrastructure requirements
- Bioinformatics training of group members and collaborators
- Degree/Honours/Masters qualification in Electrical Engineering
- Demonstrated experience in developing VR applications with high-fidelity haptic feedbacks
- Demonstrated experience in developing electronical devices (physical modules, wireless remotes)
- Proficiency in Unity API, C#, web-based programming (HTML, CSS, PHP and SQL), JavaScript, Markdown, and data visualisation tools
- Demonstrated experience in Bioinformatics and basic knowledge of biology
- Salary Range $75,700 - $92,190 PA + super + MAXXIA salary packaging
