Devops Engineer (C++)

4DMedical (formerly 4Dx) - Melbourne, VIC

Source: uWorkin

Our Story

4DMedical is a global medical technology company aiming to change the outcome for patients with lung disease by revolutionising respiratory imaging and ventilation analysis. Our vision is a world in which people with lung disease have better outcomes.

We have recently completed a successful Initial Public Offering (IPO) listing on the ASX and are currently in a high-growth stage of the business.

The position

As the DevOps specialist on our Algorithm Team, you will work with the application engineers to develop, build, and deploy the next generation of our world-leading image and flow analysis algorithms. Your initial focus will be on a six-month transformation process to modernise our existing CI and deployment stack for C++ around enterprise-class package management using Artifactory and related tools. More generally, you will be part of an Agile development team and will be responsible for managing the continuous integration pipelines and deployment processes, testing the deployment process for product updates, managing code deployments, fixes, updates, and related processes.

You will play an important part of a small but dedicated team in delivering world-leading medical image analysis technology to our customers – ensuring that our deployments are secure, maintainable, and compliant with rigorous regulatory standards. While a member of the development team, you will work closely with the Service Delivery team to support the transition of the software releases to production and seek opportunities for continuous improvement to better support our production deployments.

This role will report to the Algorithm Team Leader.

What can you expect as the DevOps Engineer at 4DMedical?

You will have the opportunity to shape the development of the growing DevOps practice at 4DMedical whilst working as part of a knowledgeable, high-achieving, and experienced Algorithm team. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop and maintain our CI/CD pipelines, including artifact management over the full development lifecycle.
  • Design build and test infrastructure than can support a matrix of products and compile time options.
  • Support a DevOps process that ‘builds quality in’ to every part of the pipeline.
  • You will play a key role in the transformation of our build and deployment architecture. You will be involved in the requirements analysis, deployment, and post-installation validation of our internal tooling (such as JFrog Artifactory).
  • Maintain, develop, and extend deployment automation for our internal tooling using a technology stack that includes Kubernetes and Helm.
  • Be an expert resource for the developers both in the Algorithm team and the company more broadly as we grow our DevOps practice.

Qualifications requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields, or significant professional DevOps or SRE experience
  • Professional Certifications in Kubernetes are preferred, but not essential

Industry experience requirements

  • Solid background in software development, with experience in Python and C++ (C++14) highly desirable.
  • Experience with build tools such as CMake, CTest and Conan.
  • Deep Linux knowledge including operating system package management (e.g. RPM) and dependency management.
  • Experience in highly-regulated industries such as finance and medical software will be helpful in understanding how we work.
  • A sound knowledge of the Helm templating language and Kubernetes resources is beneficial.

What can we offer you?

  • Delegated autonomy and authority for decision making
  • Flexible working hours
  • Attractive remuneration package
  • An opportunity for you to grow in a friendly and supportive culture
