JOB DESCRIPTION

Business Need / Purpose of Role

Workshop and site based fitting duties to all forms of rotating equipment and machining of Materials / Castings within close tolerances to drawings and all other duties as directed by Leading Hands and management.

Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities

Objectives:
* Running all machines, including Horizontal Borers, Vertical Borers, Radial drills, Manual Lathes, Mills and CNC Machines
* Completing repairs on critical equipment, including Strip and Assembly, Drawing amendments, Machine Maintenance, Complex naval repairs
* Completing quality and hold point documents
* Inspecting own fitting work and machine shop work
* Assist with on site installation, repair maintenance and test tasks as per scopes of work provided
* Maintain and repair of products in accordance with the procedures detailed in the service centre quality manual, or the relevant maintenance manual.
* Promote ‘Weir' brands and services throughout the territory and when on site.

Job knowledge / Other requirements

Education and/or Experience:
Tertiary qualifications in Fitting/Machining at AQF Level III or above. Previous fitting experience in workshop and on site, demonstrating high quality work within tight tolerances. Previous experience in a leadership role and/or demonstrated capability to lead under the Weir values

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively in front of customers

Mathematical:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands:
Standing and walking for up to 8 hours a day. Lifting up to 20kgs, repetitive upper and lower limb use. Wearing PPE for up to 8 hours a day.

Work Environment:
Loud, outdoor work and exposure to mechanical moving parts. Appropriate PPE to be worn at all times.
