The Opportunity

The Construction Project Manager will oversee all building projects for our company. They will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of a new Sydney facility; as well as other property projects, on time and on budget. The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for managing contractors and working with third party vendors while ensuring compliance and operational effectiveness of the new site.

Reporting to the Director of Property and Facilities you will join a team of passionate staff who are playing their part in making sure that we are Here for Good.

On a typical day in this role you will:
  • Build relationships with Torrens staff and preferred suppliers
  • Report delivery issues to Director Property & Facilities
  • Assist in development of Capital Expenditure requests (CIP contributor); ensure completion and delivery of project in line with approved CIP
  • Manage architectural or engineering advisers, contractors, project management consultancy firms
  • Negotiate with vendors, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Manage job sites for both new construction and remodeling/renovation projects
  • Budget management and reporting of expenditure
  • Manage request for information (RFI) register and ensure accuracy, ensure variations and costs are captured, tracked and reported regularly
  • Prepare & review construction contracts and project management contracts.
  • Present the progress of project, risks & making sure that all the aims of the project are met
This is a 6 month fixed term contract based at our Head Office in George St Sydney

Who are you?
To be successful in the Construction Project Manager position you will have:
  • Must have experience in Project structuring and management
  • High school degree; bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, business management or related field preferred. Certification in facilities management is a plus.
  • Experienced at compiling and following strict budgets
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Goal-oriented, organized and team player
  • Ability to mentor and lead junior employees and peers
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Accurate and precise attention to detail
  • Ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and be a problem-solver
  • Computer skills; may include scheduling with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
