The Role

Our Design Engineering Team Lead facilitates the production of highly constructible designs from more junior design team members to the benefit of our Project management and operational teams.

This is a permanent full-time role based in our Bibra Lake office, however there will be a requirement for site visits within WA and to our Melbourne sites and offices.

In the role of Design Engineering Team Lead, you will be responsible for a range of tasks, including: -

  • Assisting in the upskilling of junior designers to produce accurate drawings, which achieve a high degree of constructability.
  • Checking the output of design to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance with scope.
  • Producing job specific drawings, including concept, building license, for approval, for construction and as-built.
  • Attending client sites and design meetings when required to troubleshoot and provide project specific solutions
  • Monitoring the progress of drawings using FNet, to ensure compliance with agreed deadlines.
  • Respond in a timely fashion to issues raised on the defects register
  • Provide coverage for the Design Manager during absences
  • Assist the Design Manager to offer solutions to complex technical issues

Essential Skills:

  • You will be degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or at least 5 years of recent experience successfully designing fire sprinkler systems 
  • You’ll be able to demonstrate your experience delivering designs with a high degree of constructability
  • Knowledge of the AU codes and REVIT experience is essential
  • Experience with other design software packages will be advantageous.
  • Highly motivated and able to meet strict client deadlines
  • Great communication skills that allow you to work effectively with both clients and co-workers
