The Team and the Role

The Data Analytics Centre (DAC) exists to lead a whole-of-government approach to data analytics, to tackle some of the State’s most difficult policy challenges. Using data analytics, managed analytics (powered by the DAC’s Advanced Analytics Platform), and guided innovations programs, the DAC works to connect data, people and insights to build world-class capabilities in whole-of-government data analytics to improve health and well-being, safety, social, economic and environmental outcomes for the citizens of NSW.


As the Senior DevOps Engineer you will be responsible for operating DAC Advanced Analytics Platform and ensuring that all analytics services are working and running optimally. Your day to day activities include platform engineering, implement service offerings, platform maintenance/administration and issue resolution to ensure best practice administration is embedded in the NSW DAC.


Your key accountabilities include:


  • Ensure that DAC Advanced Analytics Platform are working efficiently in multi cloud environment. This includes Azure datalake, AWS Secure labs, Azure Databricks, Snowflake, ETL systems, databases, and visualisation tools (Qlik, Tableau etc) hosted on Azure, AWS cloud datacentres and IaaS environments.
  • Provision and implement Platform as A Service component for analytics, data and visualisation services.
  • Carry out operational, compliance and application maintenance tasks via strategy-building tools.
  • Ensure issue resolution as per agreed SLA; Develop corrective actions and standard operating procedures to solve operational issues.
  • Supporting the DAC Advanced Analytics services in a complex hybrid environment with a wide variety of services (analytics, database, visualisation)

You will become a subject matter expert and evangelize the latest technologies and tools, tailoring them to the organisation’s strategic roadmap.

DevSecOps mindset: You have a passion for security by design with a DevSecOps mindset.

Essential Requirements:


  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (both written and oral)
  • Experience in multi cloud - Azure, AWS, GCP
  • Demonstrated experience in Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform
  • Hands-on experience with setting up CI/CD pipelines
  • Demonstrated experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Expert in scripting languages - PowerShell, bash, python
