About the role

Our Communications and Control Engineering Officers provide maintenance, testing, commissioning, diagnostic and investigative services, as well as repairs of Communications and Control systems, equipment and associated Secondary Systems.

About you

You enjoy continual learning, working in a team environment, are highly accountable, take pride in providing a quality service and are excited about working on technologically advanced systems. You have a Queensland Restricted Electrical licence qualification, a relevant Electronics Trade certificate, an Associate Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent and "C" Class drivers licence. If you do not already hold an Associate Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent, it is expected that you will undertake studies towards it, through a University level institution, at the earliest opportunity; Powerlink will support you toward achieving this.

You will have experience in and knowledge of;

  • Safety and Environmental Management principles;
  • Maintenance, testing and commissioning of multiplex systems (PDH, SDH, and DWDM), MPLS-TP, fibre optic, and microwave;
  • Maintenance, testing and commissioning of associated Control and SCADA systems, in the field or test centre environment;
  • Automated and microprocessor controlled test instruments; and
  • Analysing and fault finding on complex electrical circuitry and schemes.
