Our client, one of Australia's leading resources companies, is seeking to engage a site-based Mining Design Planning Engineer on a 4 month contract in the WA Pilbara on a 4 : 3 roster.
Reporting to the Senior Mine Planning Engineer, this role is responsible for carrying out detailed mine design work and some aspects of short-term production scheduling associated with the delivery of the 2 year and 3 month mine plans to set standards.

It's a site-based position with a 4 on, 3 off roster.

Key accountabilities will include:

• Deliver operational pit designs and related infrastructure designs for 2 Year & 3 month mine plans.
• Must be capable of understanding design standards, procedures and mine physicals
• Haulage scheduling, optimisation, waste dump designs and schedules
• Adherence to quality design standards

Qualifications and skills required:

• Relevant experience gained as a Mining Engineer with planning and design experience
• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or similar
• Practical approach to engineering and design problems
• Knowledge in open pit mining preferably in iron ore and surface mining
• Short to medium term planning and scheduling and mine design knowledge
• Computer proficiency (Excel, MS Office, Vulcan, Alastri suite of software's)
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Team orientation and strong ability to take initiatives
