About The Team

The City and Southwest Project Delivery team is managing planning and construction of the Sydney Metro rail network from Chatswood in Sydney’s North, under Sydney Harbour, into the CBD and all the way through to Bankstown in Sydney’s South. It’s a program of epic proportions which will bring together technical specialists, world-class technology and innovative ways of working to provide Sydney with better, faster and more reliable journeys.

The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for multiple Project Engineers to join the Trains, Systems, Operations and Maintenance team within Sydney Metro City & South West. We are seeking high calibre candidates to provide Project Management, construction management and engineering support for the delivery of a major contract package of works. We are looking for Project Engineers with experience in delivering rail systems packages of work. The roles will provide technical and on-site advice to support project managers in the design and construction of work packages for City & South West.

Reporting to a respective Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of packages; working with the contractors to safely deliver on time and on budget key elements whilst minimising disruption to customers and stakeholders.

Here Are Some Of The Things You Will Be Involved In

  • Supporting and promoting on-site safety, leading by example and demonstrating alertness against potential safety hazards
  • Manage parts of construction projects within the relevant work package to assist the project managers in the delivery of plan, schedule, milestones and key deliverables;
  • Assess and report on the implementation of plans to ensure that management plans for sites are appropriately implemented;
  • Undertake routine site activities and maintain detailed site records of work performed and construction activities to ensure all works are carried out in accordance with contract documents;
  • Review and check technical designs and drawings and oversee building and construction work to ensure that designs are followed correctly and provide technical information for monthly reporting purposes;
  • Provide timely and accurate incident reporting and assistance on-site during an incident, and monitor and control risks ensuring adherence to Sydney Metro’s risk management plan (RMP);
  • Monitor progress of works, including the identification, recording and archiving of non-conformance issues;
  • Prepare regular reporting on project specific quality and environmental issues to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and plans; and
  • Support safe, successful and compliant quality outcomes, including the collection and preparation of project information for ongoing reporting.

About You

To be successful in these roles you will have:
  • Tertiary qualification in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • A proven track record working on large scale infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge and experience of construction principles including time, cost, quality and safety in construction.
  • This position is identified as a Rail Safety Worker (RSW).
  • Rail Systems knowledge and expertise specifically in Comms, Radio, Signalling, SCADA or Electrical is beneficial.
  • Strong track record in stakeholder management.


Salary And Benefits
