Your new company
The client is a public sector organisation based in CBD of Brisbane. As result of ongoing project requirements, they are looking to engage the services of an experienced environmental engineer / scientist to manage a wide range of environmental projects across the region.

Your new role
Role acts as in house consultant to the rest of the organisation, so broadly speaking the successful candidate will be required to provide specialist environmental advice and guidance to the organisation. That advice can be broad, but bulk of the work will be around the high-risk areas – so particular civil engineering for road building and maintenance crews. Successful candidate will be:-

  • Undertaking detailed environmental assessments across whole project range from preliminary advice, planning advice through to due diligence assessments
  • Supporting the construction crews, preparing environmental paperwork as well as auditing of sites, incident response and data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Oversight to external civil contractors working on behalf of organisation – Assessing their submissions for construction environmental management plans and risk assessments. Where necessary providing help and support to improve
  • Management of specialised external consultants (including the development of contract documents) to cover things like ecological assessment, cultural heritage, soil assessment and species management
Overall goal is that projects are delivered to agreed time, cost and quality objectives, while also keeping a keen eye on positive stakeholder relationships.

What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have a relevant tertiary qualification in environmental engineering, science, or similar and have experience of working in a similar role with local / state government, engineering consultancy or civil contractor doing work in the space. Candidates need to have strong communication skills in order to present verbal or written advice to variety of technical and non-technical audiences. Candidates will need strong stakeholder engagement skills as a real need for strong customer focus with internal and external project partners.
