About The Project

McConnell Dowell is the constructor within the Western Program Alliance (WPA) which forms part of the Victorian State government’s ambitious level crossing removal program. The Alliance brings together the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), and Arup and Mott MacDonald as design partners.

WPA was formed in 2017 and following the successful completion of several major projects, is now focused on delivering the level crossing removals at Werribee (Werribee Street & Cherry Street), Hoppers Crossing (Old Geelong Road) and Cranbourne (the Cranbourne Line Upgrade), as well as developing future works projects.

Your Opportunity

We have a permanent opportunity for a qualified and highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team at the Western Program Alliance. The key focus of this role is to assist in minimisation of the cost of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality.

The Quantity Surveyor Will Be Accountable For

  • Undertaking the Design Cost Planning procedure.
  • Interpreting plans, drawings and specifications.
  • Measuring and monitoring construction costs, from the feasibility stage of a project through to the completion of the construction period.
  • Assist in preparing Bill of Quantities.
  • Value changes to design or quantities which may arise.
  • Assist with preparing Design Package Cost Planning Reports.
  • Compiling Design Package reports.
  • Assist in risk analysis and management of risks associated with QS function

Requirements For This Role Are
  • Qualification (Quantity Surveying or Construction Management) and experience in cost management, cost planning or estimating.
  • A capability with InEight Estimate (preferred), Expert Estimator, Candy or other QS related software, as well as Excel is required.
  • Proficiency in English with a strong reporting ability.
  • Ability to interact between the Design and Construction teams, build and maintain relationships.
  • Sound working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same, and a strong commitment to the safety promise of "Home Without Harm"
