The role:

We are currently seeking a Manager - IV & Construction Services (Nth QLD/NT) to provide leadership and operational direction. The Local Sector Manager is responsible for coordinating the activities of the market group and leading the team to deliver results at the local office level. This position is required to provide input into the designing, reviewing and delivery of Market and State Business plans. The Local Sector Manager is responsible for managing people within the local team with feedback and consultation from the National Market Sector Lead, the State Sector Manager and the State and Area Managers. The incumbent will role model SMEC values, ethics and code of conduct and ensure all business activities are carried out in accordance with these guiding principles.

This position ensures the operational and technical excellence and performance of the Local Market Sector with the effect of growing the SMEC IV & Construction Services function through optimal people, commercial, business development, client relationship management and project performance.

  • Effective planning and management of the performance of the local team in line with the Market Sector and State plans and in support of SMEC’s vision and values
  • Undertake client relationship management and business development activities in line with the Market Sector and State plans
  • Provide project governance and project management in the local office to achieve reliable project performance in terms of sophistication, timeliness and quality
  • With support from National Manager, provide leadership and development opportunities to the employees located in the local office to ensure cohesion, optimal performance, resourcing, retention and professional development
  • Provide support to the National Manager and manage activity to transition regional based business model to a national service model
