The Role:Key Responsibilities

  • Provide telecommunications engineering subject matter expertise to set strategy and architectural direction for telecommunications systems
  • Providing telecommunications engineering subject matter expertise in relation to design, review and implementation of Telecommunications systems to meet business requirements whilst ensuring alignment with engineering standards
  • Provide operational support, maintenance & undertake initiatives to improve various Telecommunications systems on site. (Examples are VHF, UHF, microwave, antenna systems, CCTV and PAGA systems)
  • Delivery of telecommunications projects in line with business unit requirements, including project management, design, engineering, construction etc
  • Ensure Telecommunications systems meet the requirements of the operations and safety cases for the asset facilities.
  • Ensure Telecommunication systems comply with relevant regulation and performance standards.
  • Review and approve on technical changes and MOC to telecommunications systems as related to site impact.
  • Continuous improvement and development of systems, procedures and processes to enable effective operation of telecommunications systems
  • Support the telecommunications systems preventative maintenance plan.
  • Ensure supportability of Telecommunications System by managing equipment preservation and asset life cycle management.
  • Maintain Telecommunications systems documentation (e.g. standard operating procedures, maintenance work instructions, DR documentations, engineering drawings, As Built documentation, Compliance etc.) in accordance with standards and best practices.
  • Ensuring adherence to all service management and MOC functions, such as incident, problem, change, capacity, and configuration management.
  • Maintain relationship with telecommunications vendors, including vendor support escalations.
  • Participates in compliance and audit requirements relating to telecommunications. Formal Qualifications (Essential)
  • Degree or equivalent in Telecommunications Engineering Industry Qualifications
  • Detailed knowledge of offshore and onshore oil & gas telecommunications system design and associated facilities.
  • Good understanding/appreciation of the majority of the following focus areas: o ALARP o Project Safety Case o NOPSEMA requirements o Quantitative Risk Assessment o Hazardous Area Classification o Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) study o HAZOP and HAZID studies o Identification of Safety Critical Elements o Australian and International Standards as applicable to telecommunications systems/equipment for hazardous areas o Marine communications systems o Land communications systems o Performance Standards
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-discipline environment. Experience
  • Minimum of ten (10) years experience in telecommunications engineering in the oil and gas industry. It is desirable that the experience includes a mix of design, construction/projects and operations/maintenance experience. Attributes
