We are seeking to appoint a two DevOps Engineer in the Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS)that is part of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research)division.
The Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) is a national collaborative research infrastructure, supported by the Australian Government. It is led by the University in partnership with the Australian marine and climate science community (http://imos.org.au/). IMOS provides a national, multi-institutional capability to undertake systematic and sustained observing of the marine environment, from the open ocean onto the continental shelf and into the coast, and across physical, chemical, and biological variables.
The Opportunity
Assist in the design and implementation of new data management systems to support the data collection activities of IMOS facilities. Provide expertise in full-stack software development of new data-driven systems and the maintenance and improvement of existing systems.
Key Accountabilities:
* Infrastructure administration and maintenance, including system administration tasks to ensure the reliable operation of the IMOS and AODN information infrastructure.
* Develop code and configurations for managing infrastructure.
* Working with other members of the IMOS/AODN on system delivery, protocols, and standards.
* Documentation of work done including code, develop manuals for the use of systems and document processes and procedures where appropriate.
* Supporting technical staff and external stakeholders by provisioning appropriate infrastructure and providing expert advice as required.
Your Application
To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate:
* Tertiary qualification in Computer Science with relevant experience or equivalent extensive experience.
* Experience with configuration management tools (such as Chef, Ansible or Puppet).
* Experience with managing cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS) and with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ruby).
* Demonstrated high-level understanding and experience administering a Unix/Linux environment (e.g., Ubuntu), including the administration of virtual machines, storage, and backups.
* Experience with continuous integration and build tools and processes (e.g., Jenkins).
* Well-developed oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with a diverse range of people and work flexibly and proactively as a member of a team.
Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $105,219 comprising base salary within the range of $87,423 to $96,090 plus 9.5% superannuation.
