About The Role

You will be accountable for the creation of, and compliance to the daily and weekly mine plans by the Operations team as well as responsibility for the planning and implementation of improvement projects for the Operations group. You will also manage the development, training and performance of the Production Planning Engineers, providing support and overseeing their daily activities.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Generation and implementation of the daily and rolling weekly mine plan within the constraints of the Monthly Mine Plan. Make changes to the mine plans as required compensating for real time events that affect the plan and ensure that all changes are communicated to effected parties.
  • Accountable for the daily and weekly reconciliation of mine plans to measure performance. Ensure systems in place to allow for this reconciliation to occur. Use information to help develop plan and also to give feedback to mining group on areas of improvement required. Communicate reconciliation to required parties.
  • Ensure Production Planning Engineers are organising and checking required designs are set out and adhered to for stockpiles, waste dumps, haul roads, in pit ramps, wall design and projects. Confirm designs are communicated effectively to the Operations and Technical teams for all design and project work.
  • Responsible for the development, training and performance of the Production Planning Engineers.
  • Assist and support the Senior Short Term Planning Engineer with the development and reconciliation of the Rolling Monthly Mine Plan.
  • Be responsible for the planning and implementation of projects as directed by the Superintendent Mine Operation Planning. These may include:
  • improvement of road design or condition;
  • changes to stockpiling design or strategy;
  • implementation of geotechnical projects that affect production;
  • infrastructure design or improvements; and
  • crusher feed improvements.
About You

The following skills and experience will be key to your success in this role.
  • Tertiary qualification – Bachelor of Engineering (Mine) or equivalent.
  • Substantial mine engineering experience in an open pit mining environment including exposure to load & haul and drill & blast roles.
  • Competent mine planning software skills.
  • Experience creating mine plans and associated presentations, reports and reconciliations.
  • Analytical capability and data based decision making.
  • Ability to:-
  • Lead and develop a team of professionals.
  • Problem solve complex issues.
  • Communicate, engage and influence site leaders.
  • Quarry Manager ticket and experience with Autonomous Haulage Fleet system is desirable.
