The Power Grids business offers power and automation products, systems, service and software solutions across the generation, transmission and distribution value chain. Hitachi ABB Power Grids Transformers are a global leader in technology, and the largest supplier of transformers in the world. We are pioneering the digitalization of transformers, while working on the frontier of renewable energy and ultra-high voltage AC & DC applications. An exciting opportunity within our Transformers business is now available. We are searching for a Sales Engineer to join the team in Moorebank, NSW. Focus for this role will be to maintain and expand the Transformer Power, Distribution and Dry type portfolio by defining and implementing marketing and sales strategies. This includes products supplied into markets, segments, and other strategic areas to identify and create opportunities. Be responsible for maintaining and expanding strategic relationships with end users and external customers.

Your Responsibilities

  • Supports the product development process from project specification to product launch.
  • Provide insight, knowledge and guidance to transformer design and proposal engineers as they navigate alternatives.
  • Collaborates with internal teams (i.e. Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Research & Development, Supply Chain, and Logistics) to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with all end users in segments like Industries (Metals and Mining, Oil & Gas), Utilities, Renewables, F&B, and make sure that Hitachi ABB Power Grids insulation and components are approved and in list of short-listed suppliers
  • Maintain and expand relationships with all transformer factories SCM, proposals and design engineers. Understanding of proposal preparation and influencing use of Hitachi ABB Power Grids components within transformer design at proposal stage and actual order execution stage
  • Achieve sales targets, pipeline management, relationship management, and strategic account planning for all 3rd party transformer factory accounts while maintaining customer satisfaction as measured by our Net Promoter Score (NPS).
  • Collaborates to define marketing plans in order to promote sales activities
  • Develop and maintain detailed understanding of the transformers business strategy, purchasing behavior, and organizational structure by collaborating with SCMs, Engineers and Proposal Managers.
  • Prepares various analyses by market, product and competitors. Collaborates with internal teams to share data as needed.

Your background
  • A Bachelor's/Master’s degree in electrical/chemical Engineering
  • Minimum 4 years of experience 4 years in demonstrable product marketing and business development experience (experience in Australia and New Zealand preferred but not mandatory)
  • A proactive, determined and self-motivated individual who can operate independently and collaborate effectively as a team member
  • An outstanding ability to convert strategy and opportunities to sales with an established record of product sales growth achievements
  • A demonstrable ability to listen, understand and deliver on customer needs and requirements
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office Applications e.g Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills
