JOB DESCRIPTION

This global rail powerhouse are renowned for delivering complex metro schemes around the world and currently have a requirement for a Senior Safety Assurance Engineer.

This position based in North Sydney is initially a two year fixed term contract with the possiblity of an extension to 3 years.

Key Responsiblities For This Role Include:

  • Generate and review safety assurance plans that lay out the processes and requirements for Safety Assurance on projects from inception throughto completion.
  • Develop and review Safety Assurance Statements reports to justify (SFAIRP).
  • Develop, manage and review Hazard Logs / Risk Register for recording Hazards / Risks associated with different project scopes.
  • Plan, organise for and facilitate Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), System Interface Hazard Analysis (and Operations and Support Hazard Analysis
  • Conduct Safety / Risk Assessments concerning design modifications and / or nonconformances using safety change management processes.
  • Construct and review Safety Arguments utilising the Goal Structure Notation and ensure clear alignment with the safety assurance reports.
  • Engage in the derivation of safety related requirements and in verifying and validating them hrough relevant project lifecycle stages.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholder on a day to day basis and respond to technicala nd non-technical related observations and queries concerning safety assurance.

Qualifications 

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Relevant experience working within Safety Assurance in a transport environment (rail preferred)
  • Strong analytical and interpretation skills
  • Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills.

Experience

  • 10 years previous experience in safety assurance in rail/defence or similar industry.
