Building & Maintenance Projects Officer

Fixed Term Contract – 3 Years

Council is seeking applications to fill the fixed term contract for a Building & Maintenance Projects Officer. Applications will be received until Monday 15 February 2021.

The Position

An excellent career opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, capable, and suitably qualified and experienced person to join the dynamic Longreach Regional Council team as the Building & Maintenance Project Officer. This position will be responsible for managing and delivering council projects, maintenance plans, inspections and construction works across Council’s three locations of Longreach, Ilfracombe and Isisford.

To be successful within this role you will require:

• Class C Drivers Licence.
• Trade qualifications in carpentry and/or construction
• Current QBCC licence (Carpentry)
• Excellent time management, organisation and planning skills with an ability to prioritise and manage own time to meet critical timeframes.
• High level communication skills, both oral and written and customer services skills, both for internal and external customers.
• Demonstrated skills in Project Management and delivery of a diverse range of projects.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of statutory obligations, legislation, codes of practice and Australian Standards in the carpentry industry.
• Demonstrated knowledge of current building and construction industry work practices as they relate to maintenance of community facilities.
