This world-class liquefied natural gas (LNG) development has transformed the Company into a major LNG exporter.

About the role

The Process Safety Manager is the focal point and the subject matter expert for Process Safety Management within the PNG Business Unit. The role is responsible for stewardship of the Process Safety Framework and will provide direct support, advice and recommendations to the BU’s oil and gas operations to achieve excellence in Process Safety Management.

The role will bridge the gap between the “hands-on” operational focus of the site-based process safety engineers, and the governance provided by the corporate HSES team, effectively bringing all aspects of BU process safety together. You will be the first port of call for senior leaders of the BU for all process safety related matters.

Accountabilities & responsibilities:

  • Steward and embed the Process Safety Framework within the PNG Business Unit
  • Engage with the BU senior leaders & drive operational process safety performance
  • Foster collaborative relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ongoing development of tools and procedures enabling best practice in process safety management
  • Drive strong operational process safety management performance across production and processing operations
  • Act as a subject matter expert in process safety, helping to build appropriate capability across the business and assisting/advising managers and superintendents in developing process safety capability
  • Align with other stakeholders across the business to promote an integrated approach to process safety management
  • Support the PNG BU in governance forums by overseeing profiles, completing appropriate reporting, and ensuring accuracy of the process safety risk profile

Your skills & experience

  • Engineering degree (or equivalent), supported by formal Process Safety qualifications (preferred)
  • 15+ years’ experience in oil & gas operational roles with time spent in management/lead advisory roles
  • Demonstrated experience in safety case development/implementation/ operationalization
  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills and the ability to lead/ influence others and drive change
  • Authentic leadership qualities essential; highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with experience operating under ambiguity and creating fit-for-purpose solutions
  • Proven experience engaging and influencing operational and corporate departments, teams and senior management
  • Full Australia/ NZ working rights
