About the role
As a result of recent significant growth in the Engineering Department, a vacancy for a Controls Engineer is being offered.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be involved in:
- Design and development of automation controls and electrical systems
- Machine assembly, testing, commissioning and installation
- Power distribution, PLC, Industrial PC, safety system, industrial networks
- Multiple systems integration including robots, third party and customer equipment
- Generate all controls and electrical schematics
- Post project customer support

Skills and experience
THE PERSON
Qualifications:
Tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering or mechatronics engineering (or equivalent).
Experience:
Minimum of 1-year experience in machine design or relevant engineering role. Experience in automation or manufacturing industry preferred but not essential.
Essential Skills and Attributes:
- Demonstrated skills in controls engineering design, precision engineering, special purpose machine and mechanism design and assembly
- Knowledge of PLC's, sensors, pneumatics, servo motors, conveyors and robotic-based automation systems
- Ability to work to deadlines and budgets
- Experience in development of machine manuals and documentation
- Demonstrated ability and experience in machine assembly, testing and commissioning
- Ability to assist with prototyping, testing and design validation
- Ability to provide exceptional post-project customer support
- Ability to work independently
Desirable Skills and Attributes:
(Knowledge and experience in the following areas are desirable but not essential.)
- Electrical design software
- ABB Robot programming
- PLC programming
- Solid Edge or Solid Works or similar
- Pneumatics

- Self-motivated with a proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving
- Strong work ethic with prioritisation, time-management and deadline achievement skills
