Searson Buck are proud to be partnering with Jayben Australia in their search for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer based out of their head office in Burnie, Tasmania. This position will require an immediate start for the successful applicant.

Jayben Australia is an Original Equipment Manufacturing company specialising in off highway and agricultural power train and power take off products, and light to medium industrial plant and equipment.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to utilise your engineering skills in the development of the "next generation machine" and assist in the design of new structures and platforms, product enhancement programs, new systems and components to increase efficiency, reliability and productivity of their fleet offering.

Prior experience and design capabilities in the development of mobile plant and equipment utilised in the heavy transport sectors, automobile, armoured vehicle industry or surface/underground mobile plant would be considered advantageous and aligned to these roles. You must demonstrate a passion for 2D/3D modelling as approximately 80% of your time would be working at a CAD station within a diverse and multi-disciplinary engineering team.

As part of the Engineering Design Team, you will be responsible for the drafting, design and detail of platforms, structures and mechanical components on a much specialised range of mobile underground plant. Key to this will be your ability to interpret designs for increased functionality, durability and strength. With the push for greater load capacity and quicker load times these machines need to be designed to operate in extremely harsh environments and meet exacting global mining standards.

As a key member of this dynamic organisation, you will work as part of a local multidisciplinary team but within a globally connected professional environment.

To be considered you must fulfil the following criteria;

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
  • 3+ years of relevant working experience
  • CAD 3D modelling experience
  • Ability to interpret and detail schematics
  • Geometric dimensioning & tolerancing
  • Ability to perform FEA calculations & analysis
  • Possess an analytical type mind with a focus on quality, accuracy and safety
  • Full Australian Work Rights
