The Sedgwick Building Consultancy division is Sedgwick Australia representing the pinnacle of building & construction expertise in Australia. Our diverse team is made up of Building Consultants, Forensic Structural Engineers, Quantity Surveyors and Construction/Project Managers.

We deliver our expertise on properties which have either suffered damage as a result of an insurance loss or through defective construction. We not only identify the cause of the loss, we also determine the solution required.

Our clients encompass the private and public sector and we have established ourselves as trusted advisors and experts.

The Role

The Sedgwick Building Consultancy division is looking for an exceptional candidate to lead our Building Consultancy Services team across Australia. The role reports into the Head of Building & Restoration Services.

This is a role for a construction professional to harness their technical expertise with a passion to lead people and grow a business.

Balancing technical construction experience with business, customer and client skills, this role will work with our talented team of Building Consultants to deliver forensic building reports. Supporting clients across the general insurance, home warranty and related industries, this role has a significant place in demonstrating Sedgwick’s ability to solve building and construction issues.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving a high-performance culture, a strong ability to develop and maintain key client relationships and be commercially minded. Additionally, an ability to be flexible and think outside the square to ensure solutions and services are delivered that enable client success. We provide services nationally, the role can be located in either Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Building Consultants and enable their expertise
  • Operational management to deliver on client expectations and financial outcomes
  • Facilitate collaborative working relationship.
  • Build key relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Review and undertake assessment to identify areas of opportunity for growth and expansion
  • Participate in strategic and operational planning, with oversight of implementation of actions to achieve objectives
  • Work with clients to develop or enhance key services which deliver a high level of value to our clients


About You
  • Have 10+ years' experience building and construction industry as a builder, construction manager or similar roles.
  • Experience working across both residential and commercial construction.
  • Ability writing forensic consultancy reports (desirable)
  • Experience leading and developing people, whether apprentices or construction professionals.
  • Demonstrate an ability to engage with and listen to clients
  • Be able to undertake business development and marketing activities
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring colleagues to success
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and engagement skills
  • Resilient with a growth mindset
