ABOUT THE ROLE
This product development position partners with business development and the engineering team to achieve sales and revenue targets. The role is accountable to evaluate, design and present technical requirements of any new sales opportunities and develop technical solutions that meet those customer requirements. The position will also be expected to generate technical documentation for bids and proposed solutions and provide comparisons between different equipment as well as managing effective relationships with technical teams of potential clients and equipment vendors

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide RF and Network technical sales support to the business development team
  • Review Customer RFPs, RFQs and generate technical responses to these requests
  • Support business development activities by analysing technical solutions for new wireless services/applications including in-building DAS, small cells and Wi-Fi networks
  • Work in partnership with customers to define requirements documentation and agree performance specifications in order to provide proposals.
  • Manage external engineering consultant firms who may be supporting pre sales activates
  • Coordinate and attend customer meetings and present technical solutions to meet their requirements.
  • Build relationships with key customers and suppliers working in partnership with the business development team
  • Review and provide feedback on proposed RF design documentation including system schematics, RF link budgets, coverage/propagation maps and performance targets
  • Provide technical RF related recommendations to the sales team and to the customer
  • Develop presentations and proposals to support pre sales activates
  • Meet with suppliers to agree technical requirements and validate the quality/performance of their products
  • Work with installation companies and suppliers to create budgetary estimates for proposed solutions
  • Attend industry conferences to stay abreast of all emerging trends
  • Ability to articulate the technical benefits of a proposed solution vs. competitive offerings
  • Able to respond well to challenging deadlines and to interface well with various disciplines and departments
  • Knowledge of outsourcing SLAs / business terms, processes for obtaining market based pricing
  • Manage multiple projects / sales initiatives simultaneously
  • Provide clients value, with availability and responsiveness on urgent customer business
  • Provide and “own” clear cost inputs (including rationale) in financial models
  • Communicate activities and information from third parties to internal team where appropriate
ABOUT YOU
With a proven track record in working with customers on RFI and RFP response you will have at least 7 years working with wireless and wired networks and implementation; and a minimum of 3 years experience working in sales engineering roles.
Your strong commercial and business acumen, with high levels of integrity, professionalism and a commitment to results is essential with the ability to present to and build relationships with customers is a must in this role.
You will have an understanding of structured sales processes and formal RFP processes, and of engineering and product management processes, costs and typical pricing models. Knowledge of wireless technologies such as 3G UMTS, 4G LTE, 5G NR, Wi-Fi, etc, and an understanding of wired technologies such as Ethernet, IP, Fibre Optic will contribute to your success in this role.
A strong background in Network Engineering and Architecture with a particular focus in security and high availability, large‐scale environments, where an understanding of neutral host model, and experience in multi-band multi-operator technical designs is essential.
Being an expert in wireless drive testing/optimisation experience (such as TEMS, NEMO etc) you will have knowledge of Wired Network designs and experience (Optical – WDM and dark fibre, Ethernet, IP) and be comfortable with Wireless design and GIS experience (such as iBwave, Atoll, Mapinfo, Pathloss etc)
You will be qualified with a Bachelor in Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering, where a Masters Degree will be highly regarded with wireless Network Design and Optimization tool certifications and certification in at least one of the following: CCNA, CCDA, CCDP, CCDE, CCIE.
