The Power Grids business offers power and automation products, systems, service and software solutions across the generation, transmission and distribution value chain. Enterprise Software business is searching for an experienced Solution Architect to join the team. The Solution Architect (SA) has a key role in all phases of the project lifecycle, the role is heavily focused on the pre-sales stages with opportunity scoping and proposals, and continues with defining and reviewing implemented solutions at a high level of service quality. The SA leads by example in demonstrating the values of PG. The SA contributes to RFI/RFP responses and the development of design documents and provides specialist expertise and input to PG proposals, the role works closely with Presales and Sales to meet with customers to position and present our solution offering. The SA also works directly with customers to understand their requirements and applies deep expertise to shape how services are applied to optimize customer value from the solution offering. At the end of a successful sales campaign the SA works with the project team to ensure a clear understanding of the solution as sold. The SA will directly contribute to the project by shaping the solution design and further guide and assist the customer and project team through continuous review of the solution.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead/Contribute to activities related to solution technical review, design and development pre and post-sale.
  • Interface/Collaborate with business/customers/partners to understand the scope and requirements.
  • Collaborate with PG Product Teams to align customer requirements with current and future solution capabilities.
  • Develop/Contribute to and implements policies, procedures and solution principals to ensure that systems support the organization's business requirements and meet the needs of end users.
  • Lead/Contribute to design sessions in prototyping new systems for enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow.
  • Manage competing priorities to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Provide specialist domain and industry knowledge (e.g. War stories) to build credibility with clients.
  • Provide solution expertise including detailed solution architecture and opportunities for customers to derive value.
  • Drive the development of implementation templates to assist resource planning and cost estimation.
  • Define the delivery model and statement of works for projects.
  • Define/Deliver best practice advisory engagements with new and existing customers.
  • Define/Deliver value assessments for existing customers to ensure ongoing perceived value from PG Software.
  • Deliver solutions across multiple PG Enterprise Software Solutions and describe how these solutions will meet customer needs and interact with other systems.
  • Define/Contribute to Proof of Concept (POC) for feasibility studies.
  • Guide/Collaborate with partners to evangelize the Digital Enterprise platform and define initial solutions.
  • Provide Partner advice/oversight for partner delivered solutions.
  • Contribute to implementations for strategic opportunities including new products.
  • Support and contribute to GPG provided implementation toolkits.

Your background
  • A Bachelor's/Master’s degree in relevant industry
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in solution architecture role within a vendor managed services or consulting service organization focused on providing Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions.
  • Minimum of 10 years Information Technology service experience in customer or vendor organizations.
  • Experience in technical or solution architecture of enterprise software solutions
  • Experience within an asset intensive industry; specifically, utilities, transportation, public infrastructure preferable.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate outstanding mentoring skills and to support peers and colleagues to achieve targeted results.
  • Strong understanding of integration best practices and excellent relationship skills working with business leaders, stakeholders, infrastructure team and various development teams across the organization.
  • Ability to lead, direct, advise and guide other business and technical staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability and confidence to develop and present to senior audiences.
  • The ability to identify business drivers and work with a project team to propose practical solutions.
  • Extensive experience identifying and managing project issues and risks, including mitigation strategies and plans.
  • A demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders who they are not directly responsible (customer and PG) to achieve the objectives of the project.
  • An ability to produce documentation and collateral and to develop PG’s excellence in project delivery capability and methodologies.
  • Ability to travel both interstate and internationally as required.
