Advanced Buildings are an established Insurance Building and Restoration business based in Queensland, the ACT, NSW and Victoria. We specialise in insurance repairs and strata work involving large and technical projects. We also manage domestic insurance related repairs. We have long established relationships with Australia's major insurance companies and Loss Adjusters.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly driven Construction Manager to provide vision, strategy and effective leadership to our Qld General Works Construction Team.

Reporting to the General Manager Qld, you will plan and lead the overall performance of General Works Division and work closely with Branch Managers across various locations to deliver performance objectives, strategic plans and a cost efficient, service driven solution to our clients.

Utilising your knowledge within the construction industry, coupled with your strong people management and leadership capabilities, you will strive to motivate, inspire and lead a high performing construction team.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Managing and mentoring the construction team with clear communication and a proactive approach.
  • Working with Project Managers and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and to budget, utilising effective resources.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of strategic plans in relation to the operations of the construction team.
  • Providing effective leadership and mentoring to Construction Branch Managers (including performance management, budgets, KPI tracking and training of staff) including working closely with them to achieve their personal and professional goals.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key clients.
  • Providing technical support to the Construction team when necessary.
  • Inspecting/Auditing works at critical stages to minimise delays and/or errors. Ensuring a high quality finish to all jobs.
  • Ensuring claims, securities, variations, disputes, sub - contractors and other contractual matters are properly managed in a timely manner.
  • Implementing and continually improving systems and processes to ensure a quality product and efficient construction process.
  • Following up and supporting end of month invoicing and progress claims.
  • Providing regular reporting regarding the performance of the division.
  • Reviewing and forecasting resourcing of the Construction team, liaising with Regional Business Unit Mangers and HR in order to ensure regions are adequately resourced to meet client’s needs.
  • Working with the Safety Officer to ensure safe work practices are adhered to at all times.

Desirable skills and attributes:

  • At least 5-10 years’ experience in a management and/or leadership roles within the construction industry or similar.
  • Experience in the insurance building industry highly desirable.
  • Cert IV in Building and Construction or similar experience.
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring teams.
  • Established relationships with key stakeholders in the insurance building space.
  • A strong understanding of OH&S including risk assessment analysis experience.
  • Understands and can interpret key financial data.
  • Must be able to problem solve, be an analytical and strategic thinker and be an effective communicator.
  • The ability to produce written reports when required.
  • A professional appearance and good phone manner.
  • Competent PC skills including Excel, Word and Email.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • A strong people focus and thrive in a team environment.
  • A 'can do’ energetic attitude and action oriented approach.
  • Must be prepared to travel where necessary.
  • A current Drivers License.
