The Project

An Alliance of CPB Contractors, Bombardier Transportation and Metro Trains Melbourne will deliver the $1 billion Rail Systems Alliance package of works, which includes the first roll-out of a high capacity signalling and communications system on an existing rail network anywhere in Australia.

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking a GIS Analyst to join us on the RSA Project in Melbourne. Reporting to the CAD Manager, you will draw on your existing experience to drive our " GIS and Survey Support, Mapping and Analysis services to RSA Design and Construction Team. This is a great opportunity to join both a high-profile rail infrastructure project and a leading Tier 1 Contractor.

As GIS Survey Analyst, you will be accountable for:

  • Ability to prepare maps, record research, collect field work and disclose the necessary information to the proper stakeholder
  • Experience in working with online web-based GIS platforms i.e. Geocortex, ArcGIS Online
  • Experience with Esri Enterprise GIS mapping software to support fieldwork and operational procedures
  • Participate in field surveys where required
  • Integrate GIS and CAD files
  • Utilize raster image processing software
  • Prepare reports and technical presentations
  • Help project team with quality control and document management
  • Responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of multiple subsidiary geodatabases in accordance with corporate standards defined to ensure compliance.
  • Experience with utilizing Utility Data and work across multiple data formats
  • Supports detailed QA/QC of GIS datasets, ensuring model integrity and accuracy.
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites
  • Knowledge of GIS concepts such as projection, datum, scale & cartographic principles

Our minimum requirements for this role are:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent vocational qualifications.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in system engineering, technical ICT role or geospatial systems development.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve purposes of the role using the ArcGIS platform, 3+yrsThorough knowledge of and experience in working with CAD and desktop publishing products.
  • Knowledge of CAD developments and capacity to implement new or upgraded technology.
  • Experience with spatial modelling, remote sensing, landscape mapping and data analysis
  • Experience with Geocortex
  • Knowledge of GIS concepts such as projection, datum, scale & cartographic principles
  • Experienced user of MS Outlook, MS Excel and MS Word
  • Sound communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience with other GIS platforms (desirable)
  • Background in environmental science, ecology, geography or similar (desirable)
