JOB DESCRIPTION

Main Purpose:

Design and implement complex industrial electrical systems; perform risk assessments, and ensure compliance with safety standards and electrical engineering codes.
Provide support to Project teams and local managers through effective electrical design and best practice for improving electrical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, and systems
Design and install controller system software to sites.
Attending interstate locations for analysis of system requirements; writing and installing custom programmable logic code; testing system efficiency; and providing operational support.

Interstate travel is a requirement of this role.
Any other reasonable additional duties as directed by your Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design
  • Drawing electrical and mechanical schematics to demonstrate how processes will work.
  • Ensure compliance of electrical codes, standards, regulation and practices applicable to the design and construction.
  • Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials.
  • Estimating material, labour, or construction costs for budget preparation
  • Ensure the Terminals continue to comply with relevant Australian standards and other regulatory requirements to meet our legal operating obligations;
  • Identify and ensure compliance with hazardous area zoning.
  • Writing and updating of functional descriptions for new and improved automated processes
2. Operations
  • Analysing system requirements making recommendations to improve efficiencies and reliability.
  • Identification, capture and prioritisation of defects for the sites.
  • Support the scheduling of short and long term planned work at the required intervals, considering operational constraints and available resources.
  • Meeting with local managers to discuss their mechanical or electrical automation needs.
  • Assist with ensuring maintenance of electrical equipment
  • Testing automated systems for efficiency, safety, and reliability
  • Troubleshooting system errors.
  • Manage contractors to Puma SAPS and site requirements
3. Capex
  • Provide a wide range of engineering tasks, including electrical design, electrical drawings, ensuring correct equipment and instrumentation specifications.
  • Support the Project Managers in preparing, reviewing and following up the project program, obtaining information required for satisfying design, procurement and construction requirements.
  • Preparing cost estimates and proposal documents.
  • Arranging and developing proper electrical engineering designs where required.
  • Deliver installation to meet time and cost plans.
  • Ensuring all work carried out is compliant with Puma and Australian Standards.
  • Manage electrical contractors to Puma SAPS requirements and site requirements.
  • Writing and installing custom programmable logic code, testing system efficiency, and providing operational support.
  • Testing automated systems for efficiency, safety, and reliability.
  • Identify and design a robust program fit for any mechanical or electrical purpose.
4. Financial
  • Monitor budgets and expenditure to minimise and remain within relevant project budgets
Relevant Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • PLC technical certification or extensive skills/experience
  • Oil industry experience and experience in effectively managing small projects
  • Effective communicator with exceptional planning skills
  • Self-starter requiring minimal supervision

  • External – Contractors, Port Authority, Regulators, Community Liaisons, Emergency Services
