As the Level Crossing Removal Project continues to deliver a safer and more efficient train network, the Metro team involved in this large-scale project is expanding to respond to current and future works. Metro Trains Melbourne are currently seeking a experienced Stations Lead - Construction to support current & future Level Crossing Removal projects as part of the Western Program Alliance. This large-scale project will benefit train users, pedestrians, cyclists and drivers by improving safety, reducing congestion and enabling more frequent train services.

About the Role:

Drawing on prior experience in a similar position, you will provide end to end leadership for the delivery of the station through the effective coordination and control of engineering works though the activities of technical engineering, inspection, scheduling, planning, survey, procurement and quality control.

Broadly the scope includes the oversee of construction of stations building, platform structure and installation of building services (electrical, piping, mechanical) from design, fabrication, construction through to handover.

Key Responsibilities:

.

* Ensuring that all staff adheres to the companys quality, safety and environmental policies and procedures and that acceptable working methods and practices are implemented
* Carrying out progressive engineering audits of temporary works in accordance with the audit schedule
* Regularly assess the effectiveness of the quality on the project and provide reports to management on quality performance and areas for improvement associated with inspection activities
* Administering and implementing the Project Execution Plan, ensuring that all requirements of the Plan under your responsibility are implemented and that all associated activities are performed in compliance with the requirements of the relevant specifications, codes and standards which form part of the contract
* Ensuring that non-conformances are reported, and that suitable remedial and corrective actions are planned and implemented within the required time frame
* Coordinating engineering, temporary works, scheduling and status of the project
* Managing fabrication and field construction engineering and schedules for overall programs
* Monitoring and coordinating the preparation maintenance and change of construction schedules, methods, manning charts and equipment requirements. Advise on actions to be taken to prevent or improve undesirable trends in progress
* Interpreting engineering documents and drawings for field personnel
* Providing general technical assistance to supervisory personnel
* Preparing reports on progress, manpower and costs and coordinate the work scheduling and procurement, and other reports required by the Construction Manager/Project Manager
* Ensuring the currency and accuracy of information for schedules and reports; provide timely submission of reports and project schedules
* Compiling monthly reports from information received from Managers and Superintendents
* Establishing and implementing quality surveillance activities/reports

Desired qualifications, skills and experience:

* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Construction, Civil/Mechanical Engineering
* Several years engineering experience in a similar position with demonstrated success in delivering to financial targets, planning and logistics management
* Specialist experience in stations engineering and a working knowledge of project management
* Competent in planning and organising work schedules and a demonstrated ability to deliver to set timelines
* Comprehensive knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of the same
* Advanced communication skills with the proven ability to build and maintain relationships and engage others at all levels
